From West Bound I40/85:
Get off at Exit 128, East Lee Street. Merge right onto East Lee Street at end of ramp. Follow through residential area, several traffic lights and under the overpass for Highways 421/29/220/70. After the light at the intersection of Edward R. Murrow Blvd., you will begin to see signs for "Elm Street Historic District." Turn right on Elm Street. Come through downtown and the central business district. As you begin to leave the tall downtown buildings, you will see the Wrangler complex of buildings on your right. Watch for a party/costume rental store and a tool/equipment rental store on the right. Sanctuary House is the next building on the right after these stores on the southeast corner of Elm and Fisher, diagonally across the street from First Presbyterian Church. There is a large sign on the lawn that says "Sanctuary House, 518". If you see Fisher's Cafe, you have gone too far.
From East Bound I40/85:
Get off at Exit 125. Eugene Street. Turn left at end of ramp and go over the interstate. Follow Eugene Street north past fast food restaurants and gas stations. Go past intersection of Florida Street. Elm Street will then fork off to the right from Eugene Street. Come through downtown and the central business district. As you begin to leave the tall downtown buildings, you will see the Wrangler complex of buildings on your right. Watch for a party/costume rental store and a tool/equipment rental store on the right. From Wendover Avenue (Hwy 70/220) or Moses Cone Hospital Area:
Follow exit signs for Elm Street southbound. Follow Elm Street south past Fisher Park on right. The next light is Fisher Avenue. Sanctuary House is on the southeast corner, diagonally across the street from First Presbyterian Church. There is a large sign on the lawn that says "Sanctuary House, 518."
